‘Desert dust’ warning from professor: the virus stays in the air longer

Desert dust and sands, which took off with the low pressure system formed over North Africa, affected Europe in the high pressure area.

The decrease in intensity over the weekend the desert dust, are expected to come to Turkey. Professor of Chest Diseases, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Abdurrahman Şenyiğit said that desert powders can increase the frequency of attacks in those with COPD, bronchitis and asthma.

PATIENTS WITH ALLERGY AND ASTHMA SHOULD BE CAREFUL

Prof. Dr. Şenyiğit warned the citizens in places where the desert dust would be intense to close the doors and windows. Stating that those with chronic diseases should be more careful, Şenyiğit said, “Patients with bronchitis, allergies and asthma need to be a little more careful. If the desert dusts are very active in that area, how can this be evident? “During this period, the windows will not be opened, the doors will not be opened, there is a curfew anyway on the weekend. If there is a need to go out for an urgent need, that patient will not go out, he will definitely send someone else and he will meet his needs.”

“THE VIRUS IS SLOWING WITH DISCHARGE SPEED, THE MORE HANGING IN THE AIR”

Emphasizing that viruses whose collapse rate slows down due to the effect of desert dusts, they hang more in the air and this poses more risk. Dr. Şenyiğit said, “Please, if the desert dusts are active in the area we live in, let’s not go out if the air shows itself. If there is allergy, asthma, COPD, we need to be very careful. There are different factors that affect the speed of the collapse of viruses. “Therefore, I think that in areas with dense desert dust, viruses will stay in the air more and pose more risk. Therefore, if we have to go out at the weekend, we need to pay more attention to the mask and stay outside as much as possible.”

“DESERT DUSTS DO NOT CARRY THE HAPPY VIRUS IN EUROPE”

Emphasizing that the mutated virus in Europe cannot come with desert dusts, Prof. Dr. Şenyiğit said, “If there is a patient with a positive virus in the environment with desert dusts, the virus can stay in that environment for a little longer with coughing. It is not expected that mutated viruses from Europe will come with desert dusts.”
