Japan to receive 50 million doses of Kovid-19 vaccine from Pfizer

At a press conference, Health Minister Tamura Norihisa said that the scope of supply of Kovid-19 vaccine from Pfizer was expanded under the agreement.

Accordingly, Pfizer will send 50 million doses of Kovid-19 vaccine to Japan, which will cover two vaccinations of 25 million people by September 2021.

Previously, an agreement was reached to supply 144 million doses from Pfizer. With the new agreement, the number of doses is aimed to reach 194 million.

The Kyodo agency reported that 3 percent of Japan’s 126 million population had received at least one dose so far, the lowest among OECD countries.
