The lifetime risk of getting this type of cancer is 5 percent. The disease is often in people over the age of 50 and in both genders. It is seen at similar rates. It is seen in the third place after prostate cancer and lung cancer in men, and in the third place after breast cancer and lung cancer in women, “he said.
“THESE FACTORS INCREASE THE RISK”
“COLONOSCOPY IS A MUST FOR EARLY DIAGNOSIS”
“THE MOST EFFECTIVE TREATMENT IS IN LAPAROSCOPIC OR ROBOTIC SURGERY”
Pointing out that the most effective treatment of colon cancer is the surgical method, Prof. Dr. Sücüllü said, “Immediately after the diagnosis of cancer, the patient’s condition and treatment planning are planned with the decisions to be taken in multidisciplinary meetings, including branches such as Oncology and Radiation Oncology. The operation can be performed with one of the methods of open surgery, laparoscopic surgery or robotic surgery. “After the surgical treatment, the patient’s condition is discussed by the same committee and the next follow-up-treatment protocols (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.) are determined.”
