Red Crescent calls on citizens to donate blood

Turkish Red Crescent asked citizens to donate to the nearest blood center upon the decrease in stocks due to Ramadan and the epidemic.

In the statement made by the Turkish Red Crescent, it was stated that although the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) slows the flow of daily life, the need for blood and immune plasma continues.

In the statement, citizens were called upon the decrease in blood and plasma donations in Ramadan, and it was reminded that donors are exempt from the restrictions during the hours and weekends when the curfew is applied.

Turkish Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, whose views were included in the statement, emphasized the importance of blood donation and said, “Blood is a tissue that cannot be made in laboratories. However, if people give them to human beings, they can be healed. Blood is not an urgent but a constant need. Our blood stocks are alarming and require a national mobilization call. In Ramadan, we have adjusted our working hours according to iftar and sahur times. When you give 1 unit of blood, you give life to 3 people and you plant a sapling in the nature. ” used the expressions.

In the statement, it was reminded that those who want to donate can find out the closest blood center to them or make an appointment from the website of the Red Crescent at and call center number 168.

It was reported that a regulation was made taking into account the iftar and sahur hours during Ramadan in order to prevent any suffering from patients waiting for urgent blood, and donors who were exempted from the curfew on weekends and after 7 in the evening could come to the blood centers and perform the blood donation within 15 minutes.

It was noted that the need for immune plasma is also high due to the increase in the number of Kovid-19 cases, and it was noted that there was only 1099 units of immune plasma stock.
