Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made an assessment regarding behavioral disorders in children. Pointing out the negative effects of uncontrolled use of technology on the development of the child, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said that this situation causes learned autism. Tarhan explained the behavioral disorders that occur in the child, stating that the child who spends time on the computer, tablet or television all day cannot communicate.
WHAT IS BEHAVIOR DISORDER IN CHILDREN?
Stating that the child’s not behaving according to his age can also be considered as a behavioral disorder, Tarhan said, “Timid, timid behavior, being too withdrawn, not talking to anyone is also a behavioral disorder. For example, a guest comes home and cuts off the end of his top coat. This is a behavior disorder. It messes up and leaves. These can be considered as behavioral disorders. Developing behavior is not something that comes genetically to a child. There is social learning in the child’s learning life, developing behavior, and distinguishing between positive and negative behavior. Some children have devastating behavioral disorders. For example, he starts a fire, is against everything, does not say yes, enjoys breaking the rules. “All these are behavioral disorders,” he said.

Stating that the child should learn to act according to his age, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said the following:
“For example, he needs to know where to stand. How does a child learn this? It’s not genetic. Globally, everyone has been affected by the pandemic era. All age groups are affected. The child age group was even more affected. It is not clear, but we started seeing serious cases in the child psychiatry outpatient clinic. There is an increase in autism. Why is autism increasing? There are two types of autism. There is autism that is genetically derived and autism that develops later. All of these are called autistic spectrum disorder. The brains of these children develop differently. Four or five skills should be well developed in order to avoid neurodevelopmental disorders in the child. Fine motor skills, thick motor skills. For example, the ability to button up fine motor skill buttons, and gross motor skill is to play ball. Being able to walk without falling and standing is a gross motor skill. They have mental intelligence skills. In the pandemic period, these intelligence skills and logical intelligence skills develop very well, but on the contrary, fine motor and gross motor skills do not develop. “
DELAYED SPEECH SYMPTOM OF AUTISM
Stating that language development is also important in children, Prof. Dr. Tarhan said, “It is very important to improve language skills. Although the child has reached the age of four, he has not learned to make sentences, delayed speech is a sign of autism. We check to see if he is autistic, the child is at home in front of the television all day, this is called clip syndrome. The child watches clips all the time, does not feel the need to talk. When he does not feel, he does not learn to speak and cannot speak because he does not learn. Television and tablet cheap caregiver. The parents are giving the tablet to his hand. There your child only develops visual skills, but cannot develop linguistic skills, and does not fully develop auditory skills. Noting that a new branch of science is currently emerging, Prof. Dr. Tarhan said, “Wisdom education started for children. Why is it taught? The aim is to teach them not to lie, to share, to empathize. Empathy is more developed impulsively in girls and less in boys. They observe in kindergarten children. When someone falls down, the girls go and help them, the boys continue to play. Man’s egocentrism is the result of his biological nature. Girls’ empathy is also a gift from their biological nature. We need a family environment to properly educate children. There should be a safe area, so the house is actually a safe area. We call homes the last refuge family. Home is an area where the child feels safe. If the child is happy at home, that child has received the greatest gift. It is more valuable than expensive gifts. POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SHOULD BE REINFORCED
Stating that the positive behaviors of the child should be reinforced, Tarhan said, “It is important to approve the good behavior instead of approaching the child negatively and criticizing. It is important to express your feelings by saying ‘How beautiful you did it, bravo to you’ ”, he said.
Stating that the child learns the basic rules of behavior until the age of 10, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan also warned about the punishment to be given to the child:
“The most important punishment is seeing his mother and father upset. If the parents’ love is generous, seeing that the parents are depressed, the child immediately corrects his mistake by saying ‘I did it wrong’. During the pandemic period, the child was mostly with the mother and father. If there are errors in education, this will break out. “
Reminding that various methods can be used if there are deficiencies in teaching skills to the child, Tarhan said, “The child comes to us in such situations and we do a sensory integration test. Then we see that we are working on weak areas with some skills not developed. Visual skills, balance skills, auditory skills are all studied, and fine and gross motor are learned here. “These methods are used to develop behavior in normal autism,” he said.

Learned autism is this: The child, who is dealing with computers, tablets, smartphones and televisions all day, cannot communicate. He can’t just say how are you uncle… He plays with the computer, he is learned autism. Therefore, these are all pathological conditions. He is very smart at adult age, you say he is a genius, but not everyone laughs. ‘What are they laughing at?’ he cannot understand because his emotional literacy skills are not developed. Learned autism is on the rise. He plays ball, but he just can’t adapt. He cannot get into the proper position. It is necessary to train them one on one ”.

Stating that methods have been changed in today’s education system and that brain-based learning comes to the fore, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “Putting the child in line and giving theoretical lessons for hours has become history. There is active learning, learning by experience. It is also based on neuroscience. There is brain-based learning. What’s in this learning? This learning model will teach the child physics and chemistry in a social environment. Children who will learn in the garden in the street, we will not teach by stuffing the rooms. Children raised in this way are used to being led with fear. “Development should not be expected in a society ruled with fear.”
Stating that the Google application came out of two master’s theses, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “All of this happens with entrepreneurship and self-confidence. RESPONSIBILITY SHOULD BE TEACHED BEFORE AGE SIX
Emphasizing that it is important to give responsibility to the child from an early age, Prof. Dr. Pointing out the importance of giving children a sense of responsibility before the age of six, Nevzat Tarhan said:
“If you don’t teach the child the responsibilities of that age, the child will be egocentric. He becomes a narcissistic individual. It is many in our culture. Raising self-dependent. His morale is getting worse and he cannot learn how to solve the trouble. He cannot learn to entertain himself. He cannot learn to calm himself. When he is sad, he does not know how to relieve it. These are problem solving skills. Parents should teach these to the child. It is very difficult to teach them after school starts, it is too late. The period after the age of six is also important, but it is necessary to teach them before the age of six. If the child does not learn, it becomes an addicted personality. She wants to ask her mother, someone, everything. He has to live dependent, cannot be individualized. “
Pointing out the necessity of developing the ability to dream in children, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “Parents are stealing children’s dreams without realizing it. Stating that parents are misbehaving due to inconsistent discipline in raising children, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said the following:
“We make important mistakes when raising our children. This situation has arisen more in the pandemic. Just like the school, the social environment was a little rubbing off the mistakes of the parents. Now the only teaching resource is parents. Here, the type of child that develops both love and anger will emerge. If the child has bad deeds, even if the parents do not lie, the child has an inconsistent discipline at home. One day the child lied in places with inconsistent discipline, the mother did not react and ignored. The child learned to get results by lying. For example, there are defense lies in children. They tell a defensive lie to quench their guilt. In this case, if the mother beats the child for both breaking the vase and for lying, the child will only learn to be afraid. Whereas his mother said, ‘You made a mistake actually. You said something that is not true. If he says, ‘This is a bigger mistake than you broke the vase,’ the child learns that honesty is at a premium in this house and that his mother values him. As such, the child will never again perform a reflex like defending himself by lying. 0-6 is a young age, but the brain will learn this at that age. For this reason, everything is learned better between the ages of 0-6. 50% of what we learn in our life is what we learn between the ages of 0-6. Behavior development is the same.
